New England call-up Tammy Abraham says he never considered playing for Nigeria at international level despite repeated overtures from the Nigerian Football Federation.

Moyes named West Ham manager following Bilic exit


West Ham United have appointed David Moyes as their manager to replace Slaven Bilic who was sacked on Monday, the English Premier League club said on Tuesday. Croatian Bilic was sacked following a meeting with club officials.

West Ham had dropped into the relegation zone after a 1-4 home defeat by Liverpool left them with two wins in 11 league games. “It’s a big job we have in hand now, but I‘m sure with everybody together we can get the right results between now and the end of the season,” Moyes said in a video posted on West Ham’s Twitter account. Joint Chairman David Sullivan said the club would benefit from Moyes’ experience in the Premier League.

Slaven Bilic was fired as manager of West Ham on Monday after the team dropped into the Premier League’s relegation zone following another big loss.

Bilic had acknowledged his position was precarious after the 4-1 home loss to Liverpool on Saturday. “Disappointed, but not in the club. I expected it,” Bilic said outside the West Ham’s training ground after meeting with members of the club’s board. “It’s a very logical move.”
